CTAF Announcement for Midfield Entries

Hello all

Enjoying my first hours in PE!

Here is my scenario: Flying from New Cuyama to Oceano. The pattern at Oceano is always on the sea side (Rwy 11 is RP, rwy 29 is standard left). When coming from the west (FLW VOR) the most convenient but probably not the safest entry is a midfield entry as described here: https://www.planeandpilotmag.com/articl ... MQUqC97HFw. Is this correct? How would a real pilot decide on which entry to chose? Is it primarily a matter of traffic?

When doing a midfield entry what would be the correct announcement? "Oceano traffic, Cessna 1234, 10 miles east at 5500, entering left midfield crosswind runway 29, full stop"?

thanks a lot!
Nik

Hey Nik. Welcome!

I'm no expert but my best guess would be cross over the field perpendicular to the runway, above pattern alt, do a right teardrop into the downwind while dropping to altitude.

Just one old dude's opinion. :D

Thanks, how to fly it is clear to me. I was more wondering about how to properly announce it.

Regards
Nik

sorry, lol

"Oceano traffic, N123AB crossing over the field to the south at 1500,...
"Oceano traffic, N123AB turning right teardrop to enter left downwind, runway 29, descending to 1000,...

Hope that helps,
