Hey all,

Can the pilot edge controllers perform these?

Thanks,

Tim

To confirm, you mean ASR (Approach Surveillance Radar) approaches but not PAR (Precision Approach Radar) approaches, right?
There's a big difference.

Approach Surveillance Radar is what I meant and thank you.

We do not offer ASR. Practically speaking, they are historically used by the military. Military controllers will often be very happy to offer them to transient civil aircraft to allow the controllers to maintain currency, but short of having a failure of all your nav equipment, there isn't much call for these in the civlian world afaik. We have no experience in providing these, and Ii imagine that even if we did, the workload associated with handling this would preclude us from working traffic in other sectors. This makes it a poor fit for the network.

PAR is even worse as it requires a different type of radar display (rapid update), and, presumably, an even higher level of workload for the controller.

Thank you for the reply. They are workload intensive. They were allot of fun when we could get one flying in the civil air patrol. You all have a great thing here. Glad I joined up.
