TEC routes specify aircraft as below.

Q - Non Jet speed <=189 KT
P - Non Jet speed >=190 KT
M - Turbo Prop/Special speed >=190 KT
J - Jet Powered.

What is the difference between P and M? Turbo Prop is a Non Jet, how do I go by and is there any reference I can check my airplane for TEC class aircraft?

Basically, Q and P are non-jet/non-tubroprop/non-'special'.

Because a turboprop uses a small jet engine to derive its power, they presumably term it as 'jet' - It's just one of those funky ways FAA words things. If you think this is bad, you should have a look at the contents of their ATC procedures order

Essentially if you are flying, here's how to go about it:

If in a reciprocating engine, use Q or P, depending on the speed definition.
If in a turboprop or 'special', use M.
If in a turbojet/turbofan/turbowhatever, use J.
