Most intersting aircraft in PE
Hey guys, just curious as to what you fly around the PE environment? Do you stick to the standard GA aircraft, or do you reach out a bit more? I love my L-39...
Re: Most intersting aircraft in PE
Lately RealAir Turbine Duke. From GA sector I tried also Carenado Cessna 210 Centurion, even got my V1-V3 ratings in this aircraft, but I've basically dropped it after that. Nowadays I'm making some offline practice towards starting flying the PMDG 737-800 on PE.

I was mainly flying the C172, and Bonanza V35. Just recently I started flying the C208 Grand Caravan. (flew it IFR for the first time last night on PE)
My main focus is learning all I can right at the moment with more GA aircraft, but I think as I progress I will move up to larger aircraft.
I already purchased the Dash8 because I think that plane looks amazing. But I couldn't fly it right now if I wanted to. lol

stock XP10 Baron, JS31 Jetstream, CRJ-200, stock F-4 Phantom (doesn't have radio panel that can be easily manipulated, so that's for military ops only. Once they get the radio working, I might actually do some IFR flights with it, it's a beast).
Re: Most intersting aircraft in PE
I'm boring, I tend to to stick with 172s (stock X-Plane and Carenado) and PA28s (Carenado), as that's what I'll likely continue to fly in RL.
Re: Most intersting aircraft in PE
Hey Keith (or anyone),
I noticed that some of the later IFR ratings really suggest that you should be using a jet. Can anyone recommend an "easy" to fly entry level jet for going through the rest of the IFR ratings? (preferably for X-Plane)
Isn't there a Cessna Citation that's single pilot certified? (I remember seeing it on 'The Aviators' TV show.) Maybe that? (I'll go google.)
I worry mainly about workload still being a relative novice.
Hopefully not hijacking this thread!

Re: Most intersting aircraft in PE
I did my I-9 rating in an F-86 Sabre with VOR/DME
You're not the first to be dragged, reluctantly, into the jet cockpit for the I-9....it's actually a flaw of the training program that it involves a flight which requires a jet. We might consider granting a waiver which allows pilots to fly it in a turboprop, in which case the P-180 Avanti, the JS31 (see the I-5 video for an example of that), the Q-400 or a King Air would be great, but I have to give that one some thought as to whether to make that change to the program. The issue is that turboprops don't sequence well with jets on the same arrival (that's why the turboprop arrivals at LAX are given a separate STAR), so it's not something I'd change on a whim.
In the real world, a Citation Mustang would be a good call as a single pilot IFR ride, but I don't know if there's a great model for X-Plane.
There are some great jets out there for X-Plane, but I would struggle to describe them as 'simple'. If simple is the goal, some of the freeware jets with basic panels might be the best bet, even if they're not particularly realistic in their avionics.

Thanks Keith!
I did a quick google search and here we go: http://www.c74.net/xplane/_a_cx510M.html
Citation Mustang 510 sporting dual G430's.
I have to learn the 430's anyway when I swap from /A to /G, so best of both worlds.
For now I'm too busy bombing around in the C208 (I'm falling in love with aileron trim). I just found an Era Alaska livery for it too. >:)
So back on topic.. yeah, soon in my hanger Citation Mustang.

Re: Most intersting aircraft in PE
this seems like it might spark a neat discussion. Keep it coming! Controllers, have any cool planes come across the scope?

I can put my thumbs up in for the Chandler Mustang. I haven't gotten to spend a ton of time with it, but it's a fun ride.
