Nitpicking time: Change to my freq

Where I work I don't expect pilots to read back the new freq, then call me on the new freq.

It's excess verbiage and just how I work traffic... So when I fly on PE I'm not going to read back the freq and call you on the new freq...

Examples:

"SKW4800, change to my frequency 127.4"
"Over to 127.4, SKW4800"
"Duluth approach SKW4800 with you on 12.74"
"SKW4800, DLH approach roger"

Ick! Look at all that talk!

Better:

"SKW4800 change to my frequency on 127.4"
"Duluth approach SKW4800 with you on 127.4"
"SKW4800 DLH approach roger"

Ryan, I hear ya...but your 'before' case is a little extreme, too....it could've been:
"SKW4800, change to my frequency 127.4"
"Over to 127.4, SKW4800"
"SKW4800 made the switch"
"SKW4800, roger"

The part in bold is the part that could be swapped out, potentially. Let's also consider the time it takes pilots to change freqs in the sim. It can be a while (if you don't have hardware to help), so NOT reading it back leaves the controller hanging and unable to move onto the next aircraft. I'd rather have a QUICK readback which allows the controller to move onto the next pilot, than 5-7 seconds of waiting for the guy to check in.

Worse yet, what if he doesn't acknowledge, then either looses comms or 'gets lost' or unable to return to the previious frequency? Reminds me of an old thread on VATSIM forums about silent handoffs. What an ugly, ugly thing!

While reading either one of the posts here or in some aviation ATC source, I was under the impression that pilot should wait quite a bit after switching to new frequency, make sure there is no transmissions going so he does not jumps in too suddenly interrupting.

That means the that 5-7 seconds might be much more that that.

Unless, the trick here is "my frequency" which means that the same controller is waiting.

I do not know if I am doing it wrong ..

ATC: N8383T change to my frequency 123.45
Me: 123.45 for N83T
Switching and me: N83T
ATC:(I do not not remember but something like): N83T, xxx altimeter xxxx

Is that acceptable?

You need to verify you are on the correct frequency by saying what frequency you are on.

What difference is NORDO going to make? lol... btw this topic isn't about frequency changes for different sectors it's about freq changes to a different transmitter. I always acknowledge a new freq change. Heck, you guys could just say "contact socal approach on xxx.xx" and I'd never know the difference!

Just wanted to voice my opinion. I bet if you ask one of my coworkers they'd have a different answer, and the next guy would have a different answer, and so on

Wondering what other rw pilots think about it and/or experiences with controllers in this case...

I would read back the frequency as I thought the controller wants me to confirm it (to prevent NORDO issues). But as a bonus, I find that vocalizing the frequency helps me to remember it long enough to enter it on the COMM. I've never felt that the exchange was excessively verbose.
