Would you publish the Facebook link please? It would be a good idea to add an icon somewhere on the website.
Also, what about Twitter? It might be a better solution because the followers will get automatically notified about the events!

Thanks.

Re: Coverage area update: Oakland ARTCC, Mar 9
Wanted to thank you again for opening up this part of California on the weekends. Finally had a chance to fly my home turf even if only for a short sprint tonight. From KLHM to KSAC, as much to test out my "more" complete setup with my Saitek yoke (with push to talk button working) as to fly airspace I know VFR. I really joined to work on IFR procedures. As an added bonus, thanks to the tonights Executive Tower controller for the Executive Flyers shout out. Yes that is where we are going (or the Resturant) when we park at the base of the tower.
Will try to make the run up the coast tomorrow.

Re: Coverage area update: Oakland ARTCC, Mar 9
This is an old thread and I don't mean to throw more wood on the fire, but...
From the Service Area page:
"PilotEdge covers about half of California, much of Nevada, and portions of Arizona & Utah. In total, we have 3 class Bravo airports, 6 class Charlie airports, and 30 class Delta airports. With 39 towered and hundreds of non-towered options, there’s no shortage of airspace!"
I'm a little confused by the coverage area. The map http://www.pilotedge.net/pages/operatin ... rvice-area shows it ending around a line from San Luis Obispo to south of Bishop on the north. However I can across several threads mentioning the Oakland area. And this lovely map: http://bit.ly/yE99IK
If this is true, how do I know which airports are covered? And is it still just the weekend?
If there is another thread or PE Web page that would help me, please steer me in that direction.
Thanks, Brad

The Oakland Center Airspace was closed some time ago. The first map that you linked is the current PilotEdge service Area.

Ah. Makes sense now.
But I could swear I heard someone flying into Chico last night. Maybe I'm crazy.
Is there a way to originate an IFR flight plan from KSJC and terminate in the Los Angeles area? Would I file it and then when I reach the PE service area contact Los Angeles Center? or would they call me?
Just curious.
Thanks, Brad

File the plan prior to takeoff, just like normal. Contact Los Angeles Center on 135.50 when you're about 10nm from AVE. This is the boundary of Oakland and LA Centers and is published on the low and high enroute charts.breadwild wrote:Ah. Makes sense now.

Re: Coverage area update: Oakland ARTCC (Old)
Note: I got "caught" by this thread being resurrected and got all excited, but it was my fault because I didn't look at the year. I'm making this post to prevent others from getting caught in the same trap. AFAIK, there is no concrete plan to re-open ZOA anytime soon.
But, if some PE official would like to correct me, I wouldn't mind.
[Edit - I thought my changing the subject line here would have changed the subject in the thread listing. It didn't. *sigh* - I fear all I've done is stir the pot.

Calvin, it is not reasonable to assume that you would be able to change the title of another member's post.
