B transition using SFR route

Post by bruce »

The instructions for this route indicate that you should squawk 1201. I assume that this only applies if you are NOT flight following?

Not quite. If you have flight following and you want to fly the SFRA, ATC will terminate your service as you approach the corridor, have you squawk 1201, advise you to call Socal on the other side of the SFRA, then release you to the published CTAF for the SFRA. It would be completely unsafe to have people in the SFRA corridor (which crams aircraft into a relatively tight space), with half of them on one freq and half on another.

In other words, you're not going to get flight following through the SFRA.
