A good night...
A good night...
PE controllers... Thank you for the great work tonight. I have some training flights in the real bird this weekend and a stage check with another instructor. I set the wx to 1 3/4SM OVC007 and got after it. I took off from Chino and was immediately in the soup. Headed over to KSNA, did the GPS Y, a hold, and the full ILS with the hold/turn. I landed and was ready to park it. Flying the 'toga kept my hands full...! I only made about 29 and 1/2 mistakes. Thanks again for your patience and a fun night of practice.

heart warming to hear, thanks for sharing! Hopefully you'll have a great outcome with your r/w training and your instructors will go into PE-related shock

Speaking of PE-related shock, one of our new commercial customers was demoing to a VIP prospect of theirs. The guy was seeing their sim for the first time (a very impressive Citation CJ3 Level 6 FTD) and flat out didn't believe that the ATC was delivered by real people, despite all assurances to the contrary. Finally, the demo pilot simply said, "tower, where are you physically located right now?" "Phoenix." "thanks."
The expletives that followed, I'm told, can't be documented here on a G-rated forum, but you get the idea.
The FAA inspectors who came around for a random inspection of the facility had a similar reaction. It never gets old and is one of the things that makes the hard work so worthwhile.

I have a quick question... I told the guy who owns (used to own because he just sold it) the Redbird I used for the beginning of my IFR training and a while back during my HP/Complex training about you guys. He said the FAA was funny about allowing you to log time without an "approved" add on (or something to that effect). How is the FAA approval process for a sim different (or is it) when using PE? Just curious.....

The answer to this is really really complicated (I've been involved in some FTD certifications). The simple answer is that is actually doesn't change anything, which really isn't that complicated at all.How is the FAA approval process for a sim different (or is it) when using PE? Just curious.....

Rob, glad you had fun last night! It was a pleasure speaking to you again. Over the weekend, I have to get my sim up and running so that I can join you sometime.rgrazian wrote:PE controllers...
