Sounds in New Carenado Mooney 64bit

Post by lwilliams »

Has anyone else flown the new Carenado Mooney for Xplane (64bit) and had the engine sounds drown out everything (including ATC)?

I am trying to troubleshoot and turning off engine and propeller sounds did nothing.

Help?

perhaps they're doing sounds via a custom plugin, but normally engine and ambient noise is set by the Xplane sound volume sliders. You're saying those are completely inop when using the Mooney?

Yes......there's a lot of nice touches on the new Mooney (XP10.21 64bit, Windows 7 Pro), but I can barely hear ATC on PilotEdge.

The only way I could hear anything over the engine RPM, was do an external view and zoom hundreds of feet out. This also applies to the built in Xplane voice when checking ATIS....barely hearable.

I will experiment today, but if anyone else is experiencing this, I would appreciate any feedback.

You're not alone, I've experienced it too. Both the Carenado Mooney and Centurion are uneffected by adjusting engine/prop volume in XP10. Also, I've had crashes to desktop in almost all my flights with both planes since updating the Mooney and going to XP10.21 a couple of days ago. Seems to be SASL related.

Thanks Jeff.

This is what I suspected and will not waste too much time trying to solve it.

Could try reducing the overall sound of xplane in the windows sound mixer

That will reduce the PE ATC volume, though, because PE is running inside of X-Plane, as opposed to as a separate application (unlike the FSX model)

Yep, that's what happened. I'll just reinstall the old version and stay clear of the Carenado updates until Ver 10.30.

Thanks anyways, guys.

Turns out the engine volume is controlled by the volume knob on the audio panel. I think all the new Carenado planes with SASL have this feature.
