The Dash8 Q400 from Majestic Software has been released. Many thanks go out to all the folks that made this happen. Their hard work and diligence paid off as it has been one of the most monumental and "bar-raising" releases for our hobby. Now it is time for celebration! Please join us in a post-release party all centered around the Q400.

We have a full schedule of events starting with guest speakers from Horizon Airlines. Hear their backgrounds, stories, learn more about the aircraft, and a Q&A session following. One of our guest speakers is Lawrence Pavlinovic,a Captain for Horizon Airlines, the North American launch customer of the the Bombardier Q400. He has over 8000 hours of flight experience of which almost 1300 hours in the Q400. Having flown the Q400 on the line for several years, he is familiar with its strengths and weaknesses. Expect to have all your Q400 questions answered in full detail. Learn how to best setup and config, perform weight and balance, learn all phases of flight, and the various systems. We also have attending a Horizon Air First Officer, Flight Attendant, and an FAA representative to discuss their experiences and stories. Expect to mingle with owners of various training organizations, virtual airlines, virtual FBO's, and other Q400 owners. For the folks that want hands-on, expect several Q400 flights to break out so you can fly with the best.

If you reading this and wondering what the Q400 is and who is Majestic; the Q400 is a twin-engined, medium range, turboprop aircraft. Introduced by de Havilland Canada in 1984, with over 1,000 Dash 8s of all models that have been built. Majestic Software has recreated an advanced simulation of this aircraft in every aspect. It contains an independant Flight Dynamics Engine (FDE), capable of running at a much higher rate than the default FSX FDE, and free of the inherent problems pertaining to the default aircraft flight dynamics. It provides realistic wind simulation, icing effects, enhanced propeller physics including the propeller discing and auto rotation, effects of the propeller airstream on the wing lift and the icing effects on the propeller, wings and the flight surfaces.

This was one of our best events. Just incredible. Instant access to an active Q400 Captain, First Officer, and Flight Attendant. I had a lot of positive comments, so expect more of the same in the future. For those that might have missed the event, we will be streaming it all day. We had an overwhelming request for Q400 cockpit training. We are going to hold these sessions on this Sat 18th and the 25th (1600 GMT).

Note: Wouldn't it be fun to run through the PE ratings with a Q400?

I concur, this was a great event. Having access to those people, who were all very generous with their time was really neat to watch. What was particularly inspiring was hearing the questions from teenage kids who were considering shaping their careers to become airline pilots and hearing the positive, encouraging responses from the Captain, FO and Flight Attendant. Really good stuff.

A 737NG pilot was on hand, too, and has offered to run PMDG NGX training courses that will take place on PE, too, which is something I'd eventually hoped would transpire. This would allow pilots who are already familiar with the basic operation of the airplane to hear exactly how it's flown on r/w flights and then follow along here online by conducting those same flights as a group.
