Hey folks,
I'm getting back into PE now that I'm back stateside. I've bought a new rig, lots of horsepower at my disposal. Was wondering if y'all would like to discuss scenery within ZLA. I've got no problem with payware, I love the extra mile you get when you go with payware, it's just that there are usually a few options for the same thing from difference producers, especially larger airports and ground meshes. Just throw out those little hidden gems within ZLA, payware or not, or a review of a particular product to help others (ME!) decide on which one to get.
My current dilemma is Megascenery, I want it so bad. I love the approach to PSP, entering the left downwind for 31L, those mountains rising up on your right, beautiful in real life, I'd love something close in the sim. Unfortunately, Megascenery is hard-copy only. Any alternatives that I can purchase then download?

Megascenery is worth waiting for. I actually don't know of any other decent scenery for SoCal.

Hmm...
Take a look at this...

Are my eyes tricking me? I'm going to go ahead and pour a cup of coffee and stare at this for about 10 minutes until I'm positive I'm looking at what I think I'm looking at. Then I'm going to buy it and download it.

Well, there you go!
I thought I'd downloaded it when I bought it, but I couldn't remember for sure and as you pointed out the Megascenery store doesn't allow for downloads.
You might also want to check out Megascenery Las Vegas to get a great version of McCarran Airport and the surrounding area.

Re: ZLA Scenery
MegasceneryX SoCal is one of the nicest sceneries made...probably far better than the Megascenery 2 California will be.
Re: ZLA Scenery
Also, if you like Orbx, they will be releasing FTX Global in a few weeks, which will replace all default FSX/P3D textures with new high resolution, more realistic textures (not autogen or land class). Check out the Orbx forums and see the screenshots yourself. There are even screenshots for the LA area. I think you'll be impressed.
Another good resource is this site for FSX/P3D freeware sceneries (there is also a similar site for FS9 sceneries):

I have found several airports covered by PE in this list.
