Final to KSNA side-by-side with real approach

Sorry for the blurry on the real one.. very hard to find a good image of the Mooney dash that matches the one from X-Plane.. the dash image on the right was taken from Google Image Search.. the actual image of the runway/airport/etc. were taken from one from of a YouTube video...

But it DOES give a reasonable side-by-side comparison.

Is that the Carenado Mooney for X-Plane?

If so, be careful with it. I've had some issues where I lose comms after an hour. I believe it is because the Carenado Mooney doesn't have an alternator modeled, so the the battery doesn't charge. The PE plugin checks battery status and will kill the radio after about an hour. If you know how to get around that (or think it is something I'm just confused about) let me know.

Thanks for the heads up!! I actually haven't done much with it.. I prefer the Carenado Baron 58, so I've only spent a little time in the Mooney.

Crazy how realistic this stuff is when you forget to model an ALTERNATOR (something you can't even see!) and stuff breaks... =)

Should be possible to get around that by mapping a keypress or joystick button to turn on the alternator. Chances are they just forgot to put the button on the panel.

You can verify whether it's working by checking the voltmeter or ammeter gauge if there is one, or by using x-plane's Data Input & Output screen to dump the voltage to the screen. If the voltage is dropping after engine start, then you're in trouble. If you have landing lights, nav lights and strobes on, it'll drain even faster. That's all built-in to X-Plane already (assuming the aircraft designers have entered reasonable current draws for all the components).

Once you get to about 75% of the nominal bus voltage, kiss your radio goodbye. Yes, I had a lot of fun writing that :)

Thanks Keith, that is indeed the problem and solution. Never would have thought of that, even though I already use aileron trim on planes that definitely don't have it.
