I flew into KLAX yesterday via the RIIVR2 arrival and was assigned the ILS approach to RWY 25L. A couple of questions.
First, there is a discrepancy on the RIIVR2 arrival between the Navigraph (FMS data) chart and the chart I got from airnav... Navigraph calls for a speed restriction of "Max 280 KIAS" at GRAMM, while the airnav chart calls for an airspeed of precisely 280 KIAS at GRAMM. Which is correct? And, if airnav is correct, does this mean that I cannot use the RIIVR2 arrival flying the Citation Mustang (max 250 KIAS), or can the speed restriction be waived? If it can be waived, should I advise ATC that I am unable to meet the 280 KIAS speed restriction?
Second, the approach plate for the (KLAX) ILS 25L approach contains a note (#) "When assigned by ATC, intercept glidepath at 5,000 {at GAATE} or 3,600 {at HUNDA}." I was not given either of these, but was instead instructed to contact the tower at LIIMA. Does this mean that I should delay intercepting the glidepath until LIIMA at 1,900? Since LIIMA carries the "faf" symbol, and without any instructions to the contrary, I arrived at LIIMA at 1,900 and switched to APR mode to intercept the glideslope there. This would seem to be correct, but please tell me if it was not.
Thanks in advance for any guidance.

Re: KLAX arrival and approach
Hi Henry,
For the first point, I had the very same question when doing my I-9. Just let the ATC know that you are "unable 280kts" and they usually let you slide by. That is what they did for my I-9.
I will let someone else handle your second inquiry.

Re: KLAX arrival and approach
If you were flying the RIIVR arrival, it is with 99.99% certainty that you were cleared for the approach at RIIVR.

Re: KLAX arrival and approach
Thanks, Vince.
Thanks, Marcus... I was indeed cleared for the ILS 25L approach at RIVVR... my question regards the notations on the approach plate for GS intercepts. I'm assuming that since no guidance was given by ATC on intercepting the GS at either 5,000 or 3,600, I was to just fly it normally and intercept the GS at LIIMA...

Re: KLAX arrival and approach
That is correct, absent specific guidance to intercept at those points you intercept at LIMMA.
Re: KLAX arrival and approach
Thanks Peter... I made the proper assumption, but I've been burned by assumptions so I just wanted to be sure...
