Local pilots familiar with KEMT

I need to fly down to Caltech this coming Monday (from my home base at KEDU). It looks like El Monte (KEMT) is the closest airport, but I'm not familiar with driving conditions. Would that be the best place to fly in to? Any tips on car rentals, etc?

I'm not a licensed pilot but I do know the area. El Monte looks like your best bet - <30 minute drive, no landing fee, rental cars at So Cal Flying Club (and possibly Enterprise?). Only negative I've heard is that it's hard to spot.
