new skyvector charts

Post by Keith Smith »

Check out the LAX TAC and sectional charts on Skyvector (not the world VFR chart). They've moved from scanned copies to 'digital origin' renditions of the maps. The contrast is quite different but it's definitely sharper.

I noticed that earlier today. It is much easier for me to tell the blue and magenta colors apart now. Hopefully they switch the world charts over as well. It would also help AviationMaps (now FlightPro) out quite a bit; their TACs get hard to read when zoomed in.

These are really cool! Still waiting on DTW and ORD to be updated to the new format. That's going to make iPad flying really nice.

Wow. I can actually get the information I need without my glasses...and even without squinting! :o Now if I could just get my #@%^ FSX to stop crashing! Argh!

Way to go, SkyVector!

Looks like World VFR charts are now working with the new digital charts too. Nice to be able to just keep scrolling and not have to click on the individual chart bubble. Spoiled aren't we?
