When will Pilotedge be avaliable for 64 bit x-plane Mac osx?

Post by wylie »

Hello,

My computer struggles to use 32 bit x-plane, and it crashes before i land sometimes which is a HUGE anti-climax after a big flight preparation.
Does anyone know if a 64 bit version is coming out soon? When?

Thank you.

there is a thread about this in the xplane sub forum. the short answer is soon, it's a high priority item and a lot of ground work has been laid for this.

Wylie, I know this is not what you want to hear, but I had to unload all custom scenery and back off of the monitor resolution to get my imac to keep from crashing. I too look forward to the release so i can once again have some airport scenery and up my screen resolution, but at least for now, I'm not crashing in mid flight.

Yes, Mac 32-bit is very limited in what it can handle. Ben explained to me that there's several hundred megabytes of 'stuff' that is loaded on the Mac that xplane doesn't use, but it all comes along for the ride anyway. This is why the Mac 32-bit platform is so limiting compared to Windows/Linux. You could actually get by in Win/Linux 32-bit without having to sacrifice as much visual quality. It's a shame that we don't have the 64-bit Mac client when it's needed the most. I'm working on it, I know it's important.

That's why I still fly V9.7 X-Plane on PilotEdge unless I'm beta testing a new aircraft. I can't wait for the 64-bit client for Mac! Then my jump to V10 will be complete.

Don't really need testers. I have a Mac. When it's ready, it's ready and we'll pull the trigger with everyone upgrading on the same day (controllers, windows/mac xplane users, FS2004 users, FSX users, P3D users and all my commercial customers). What a day it's going to be.
