At my home airport, my initial call to ground for taxi goes: "Trenton Ground, Skyhawk 99744, at the west ramp with information alpha, ready to taxi for northwest departure."
If you're taking off from an unfamiliar airport, you can use the name of the rental company or FBO, or just ask someone. X-Plane doesn't always put you somewhere on the ramp that you can easily identify or name. So how do you let the controller know where you are when you're flying out of an airport you're not familiar with, or when X-Plane puts you somewhere you probably wouldn't start from in real life?
Thanks,

Ramp Names
Re: Ramp Names
If the ramp starts aren't reasonable locations (or there aren't any ramp starts) you can open up the Local Map (Location Menu -> Local Map) and drag your plan where ever you want on the field.
If I have a reasonable location but don't have any nice named landmarks on the taxi diagram, I reference nearby taxiways in my call up. "Ground, Archer 123AB, West side of the field near A10 and A, information X, taxi VFR" or something like that.
