What controllers see

Post by sgabriel »

It's been clear to me a few times that the ground controller is operating with a different airport layout, or scenery, than I am. I wonder what that's all about?

(I'm using X-Plane v10 with the latest airport and nav database update.)

The airport layouts in various sims are often inaccurate or are simply mislabeled. The airport layouts for our scopes were constructed roughly 2 years ago using current airport diagrams and satellite imagery. This is why the two sometimes differ. Controllers try to be as accommodating and flexible as possible once it's determined that there is a scenery discrepancy.

Not quite sure how to do that. If anyone wants to show me how, then I don't see why not.
