The winds were unusually strong in past few days. I experienced wind shear climbing to altitude on autopilot that tossed my heading 30 degrees and sent my little Baron58 into a 2500 fpm climb for a minute then down to 200 fpm. Didn't even look at the roll. Over the mountains it was a bumpy ride straight and level. DOing the <shift Z> on FSX I had a 79 knot cross wind aloft which answered why I needed to crab almost 15 degrees to maintain the airway track. Threw me for a loop tracking the radials, but sure did introduce a level of experience.
