missed approach zulu times EFC

Post by falopz »

Hi

flying ifr approach to non towered airport, as soon as i declared the missed approach, controller told me missed declared at xxx ZULU....expect further clearance at xxx zulu time.....

i was so confused flying th airplane imc, had discordance in navigraph charts and skyvector charts about the procedure, it was so fast i did not have time to write down, and i wasnt prepared to write anything down in that moment

so after the flight i really tried to figure about why a controller is telling those things in the middle of a missed approach.

Ive contacted keith and told me what it was. its an EFC

controller is just saying that you should expect further clearance at the second zulu time....its just part of the procedure in case of loss coms....

i hope this helps

The instruction was an EFC time, followed by the current time (so you can verify your clock is correct).

Just to be clear, I typically have a habit of issuing the current time FIRST, then the EFC time. However I have looked into this and it seems the current time should actually be issued after the EFC time (as Keith mentions).

Either way, the key is to listen up to what time(s) ATC is referencing whether it be "Expect further clearance, one-eight-zero-zero." or just "Time one-seven-two-zero zulu." If you listen carefully to the words surrounding the time, you'll be able to figure out what is being said despite the order it is said in.
