System wide upgrade, June 17, 2014

Post by Keith Smith »

We are pleased to announce that the Mac 64-bit X-Plane plugin will be released on the morning of June 17, 2014.

This release requires involves an upgrade to a new version of the voice server. As a result, every application which interacts with our voice server will be upgraded and re-released. This includes:
- the PilotEdge FS2004/FSX client
- the PilotEdge X-Plane plugin for all platforms
- the PilotEdge Receiver for Windows
- the PilotEdge Receiver for Mac
- ATC radar scope software

Any attempt to connect to the PilotEdge network on or after June 17 with the existing software will result in a lost communications situation. It's likely that we will disable connections from the existing software to avoid any cases of people flying on the network without a voice server connection.

New versions of the application will be posted on the morning of June 17 prior to the opening of the network.

Upgrade instructions will be posted for each platform as the date draws closer.

So what about the native P3Dv2 interface plugin? Will it be released this day or afterwards? Thanks,

Questions that have arrisen from some friends:

-Will the aircraft list be updated to include newer model codes?
-Will the new navigational equipment suffixes be available to select?
-Will the "IDENT" feature work for everyone now?

hopefully yes on those. if not, then not long after. ident works for xplane, but not in the fsx client yet.

It's a pretty significant effort to get these builds ready, I'm doing what I can. There is support in the new build for an alternate soundcard selection in FSX/P3D, but right now it involves making a setting in the registry by hand, it's not for everyone. Full GUI support for selecting soundcards in the FSX/P3D client will either be added to the app, or I might have someone develop it as a 3rd party standalone app once the voice server upgrades are done.

Regarding the offsets, I'm just about ready to tackle testing those, yes. If you can PM me with a reminder of the problem and how to test it, I will check it out.

note, this has been moved out one week to June 17 due a conflicting class schedule with a partner company.
