Hi Guys,
Hope this isn't a stupid question but again would like to clarify before I waste the controllers time on an unnecessary call. When flying in from outside the coverage area to say KLAX, if we are flying at say FL380 can we call up Oakland Centre or would we need to wait until we were under LA Centre? I ask this as obviously the network covers Oakland Centre for flights to/from KSFO but wondered whether that included flights coming into the coverage area from the North West

Flying in from the North West
Normal call sign: N8295L or TPX
Re: Flying in from the North West
You can give Oakland a call on 133.7 once you're south of the SFO 270 radial. There's nothing official about that radial, but I think it will be a helpful reference point for you. Some controllers (workload permitting) may have no problem giving you service before then, but as long as you're somewhere between SFO and the ZLA boarder and headed for a ZLA airport, it shouldn't be a problem.

Thanks Kevin. That's very helpful to have a reference point.
