While doing the V-03 training exercise last night, I was asked by the controllers several times to make sure that my Transponder was on ALT and not on STANDBY. I had to keep going into PE and change it. I am not sure what or why it is changing itself?? It seems to be doing this whenever I change squawk codes, and I am using an Elite AP 4000 Transponder. Does anybody have any ideas???
Thanks in advance
Denny
Transponder Resetting to Standby on its own???
Re: Transponder Resetting to Standby on its own???
Some airplanes (usually payware) will override PE's transponder thus allowing you to control the transponder setting from inside the cockpit (this is a good thing). Check your button settings. Maybe you accidentally have a key/button set to toggle the transponder on/off?

Re: Transponder Resetting to Standby on its own???
As soon as I started PE I went in through PE and changed the transponder from standby to mode c. It appears to be changing it back in PE as soon as I put the beacon code into my Elite AP4000. Do you think I should uncheck the flight simulator option? Would it be possible for me to get on to the network and do some transponder tests to determine exactly when I fall off the radar?
Thanks

Re: Transponder Resetting to Standby on its own???
Denny, it sounds like the Elite driver might be resetting the transponder mode back to standby. We could make a time to work together on the scope to determine the pattern. I'll have to see if there's an option in the client to stop reading the FSX transponder state and only use the setting the user has selected in the PE app.
We do have good connections at Elite, though. If we determine that their drivers is setting the transponder to stdby everytime you set a code, that's a problem and hopefully they'll fix it.
