Best G1000 equipped aircraft in X Plane?

Post by PenfoldPilot »

I am planning to transition from a steam C210 to a similar single piston G1000 soon. Any recommendations for an aircraft that is realistic but has a G1000 that is close to RW? I have some time planned in an SR22 in the spring so just wanted to get familiar with the G1000 ahead of time.

Appreciate the input.

I moved this from the Workshops forum to the X-Plane forum for you.

I don't know of any G-1000 implementations implemented natively in X-Plane that are very strong. I would opt for SimAVIO from http://flythissim.com. I believe they're going to stop selling it for retail users, though, so you might want to snap it up before that happens. When you buy SimAVIO ($39), you get two panels/aircraft by default. I would then add the G-1000 planes that you want after that. They're $50-80 each if memory serves.

Check this out. I've heard good things about this stuff if you're flying on a PC.

Please note that SimAVIO isn´t an "X-Plane Aircraft". It does not run inside X-Plane. You will not see its instruments inside the cockpit of any X-Plane´s aircraft. SimAVIO is a separate application made for cockpit builders, wich you MAY run it in a second DISPLAY, so it simulate the G1000 cockpit. Its like the "saitek" instrument panel, with G1000 content. And...since it dont runs inside X-Plane, you have to purchase a 12-month subscription ($70) for the US navaids (the only one availble: no Europe, Canada, or any other place in the world).

Hi Antonio, that is correct. SimAVIO has been brought up many times in the forum in the past with the caveat that it's a separate app, however I neglected to mention it in this case. Thanks for including it, it's definitely something people should know.

Thanks fellas. I had reached the same conclusion and it also looks like they are going to end consumer support soon. I decided to stick to steam and wait till a panel version comes out.

Im looking for a nice G1000 aircraft for X-Plane too. After extensive search, the Cessna 400 Corvalis TT from X-Aviation ($25) looks like the best option at the time. Its G1000 does not include all the functions, but is beyond any other G1000 aircraft in X-Plane. The German FSMagazin has published a 10 page-review of the Corvalis 1.5.1 as free PDF file on its website. http://www.fsmagazin.de/download/FSM5_2 ... rtikel.pdf

If you cant read German, there´s a short summary:

The Cessna 400 Corvalis TT by Jim Gregory and his label JGX-Designs is an ambitious one-man project and unrivaled in the X-Plane world. It is not perfect: The G1000 does not include all functions of the original, the general systems depth besides fuel management is low. But still, for the everyday life in X-Plane it is a good combination of beautiful model and plausible G1000 simulation. JGX' Corvalis looks fine, flies like a charm, and in spite of everything, the G1000 is realistic enough to learn its main concepts. Even without procedures it goes beyond the FSX default G1000 in terms of engine and flight plan management.

Plus, the plane received the "Editor's Choice" award.

Keep your eyes open over the next few weeks or so. I hear there's a G1000 equipped X-Plane GA aircraft being developed. The G1000 being developed is said to be on par with the new GNS430 and GNS530 in operation and functionality. It should eclipse the Corvalis by a good margin.

In the meantime, if you've got an iPad, this might interest you:

I was wondering if that company was nearly ready with their G-1000, sounds like they are :) That's great news and is a game changer for xplane for GA training.
