Something cool I witnessed last night!

Post by nigelmcelwee »

Something cool I witnessed last night on my nightly visit to PE….I was on approach into KSNA on the ILS 20R procedure. I was turning inbound towards SAGER after my 1 minute hold and as I was inbound I noticed three other aircraft on the SAGER outbound hold and even though it was something small I thought it was so cool to see the planes stacked up for approach like that. The only other thing that was cooler was seeing another plane on approach to the parallel with us both almost flying formation with each other as we approached our respective runways.

I am totally addicted to PE! I wish you guys could have other ARTCC’s areas you serviced. My hometown of Atlanta would be fascinating to fly with so many small routes around here.

Thanks again guys!!

I'm glad you're enjoying it. If you're comfortable footing the $10k/month bill in raw operating costs for us to provide full service in Atlanta, I'd be happy to do it at cost!

Another Atlanta guy? There goes the neighborhood.

Atlanta is busy, but the airspace is laid out very simply and the traffic flows work very well, but there isn't much variety. While I too like flying around the backyard sometimes, the ZLA coverage area offers a TON of variety, from buzzing along the coast VFR to complex departure procedures through the mountains in IMC. I think this is what makes ZLA an excellent practice area for PE, the ability to see and practice so many different aspects of flying. Challenging VFR corridors? Got that! RNAV SIDS/STARs and descend/Climb Vias? Has that too!
