Hi all,
I flew a nice flight tonight in the 737 NGX on PE. I very was surprised that according to PEAware, it had only been flown once before since PE began, so I thought I'd sing its praises here.
Flying from Fresno Airport (KFAT) to Las Vegas Airport (KLAS) is really nice because it's in that sweet spot of short-haul flights where the cruise is not too long to get boring and not too short where you don't have a breather in between climb and descent. You have ATC coverage for most of the flight though the departure airport is not within the coverage area (I just picked up my IFR clearance during my climb and stayed with ATC the rest of the way). An added bonus is a relatively steep climb out over the Sierra Nevada Mountains which you wouldn't get if flying say from KSFO to KLAS.
KFAT-KLAS is also a real-world airline route so give it a shot as a break from the usual KLAX-KLAS or KLAS-KSAN runs.

I'm glad you enjoyed it, but a SFO-LAS is only about 10 minutes longer and gives you full ATC coverage from wheels up to wheels down.
Re: Flight Recommendation for Virtual Airline Pilots (KFAT-K
KSFO is on the beaten path though for most PE virtual airline pilots. Also, those extra 10 minutes mean the Sierra Nevada mountains are 25,000 feet below you by the time you get to them from San Francisco, not right in front of you as you're climbing out of KFAT.
Cheers,
Alex L.

That's a great point, I hadn't thought about the scenery.

If only FAT airspace was covered KeithKeith Smith wrote:I'm glad you enjoyed it, but a SFO-LAS is only about 10 minutes longer and gives you full ATC coverage from wheels up to wheels down.
