Standby FREQ in GNS430 Changes Itself...

Post by Talan2000 »

Hi all

Running XP 10.35. I have recently experienced what I think may be a bug -- the standby comms frequency in the default 172 is changing itself. This occurs after tuning via mouse click on the GNS 430 buttons, then flip flop, then the standby freq is off by 1 or two major digits. It has happened on every one of my last few flights. I wonder if anyone else had experienced this. I can't scientifically prove (yet!) that I haven't miss clicked :) but I wonder if anyone else has experienced this in a default or add on (I noted Tngarner's post about Flip Flop issues). If it's not an XP bug, perhaps its a click area problem on the 172? Not sure. but I have to really watch the standby freq (generally tower coming off an instrument approach - as it will invariably be off a number or two).

I've seen and experienced this as well. i think in my case, it's the settings of the touchscreen i'm using.

i'd dial in a frequency, then i'd click or touch another spot on the monitor to activate another switch, and i think that while i still got my key-press accomplished, it made the frequency change or flip.

so when i worked with fine tuning the sensitivity of my touchscreen monitor, it appears to have fixed this phenomenon. although i'm not 100% sure either.

Have you experimented in other aircraft with the GNS 430 to determine if its an aircraft issue? I've personally never had an issue with the default XP 430, but I've flown the default 172 a grand total of once (to test my XP install), meaning my experience on the aircraft is quite limited.
