TFR's and Intercepts......

Post by FLIB »

With the upcoming Presidential visit IRL to the ZLA area, lots of TFR's are being scheduled.

Are these simulated in PE?

If they are, I humbly offer my intercept services (if needed) with my trusty F-22 based out of KEDW  8-)

Not simulated - although the intercepts would be cool :)

They're not simulated because not everyone is familiar with how to brief for real world flights, or they're not looking to simulate every aspect of real world flights. We've opted to simulate major runway closures because they are relatively rare and are frequently longer term operations. TFRs, on the other hand, come and go fairly quickly.

The other reason not to do it is because as much as it would be fun to do intercepts, the likelihood of you knowing how to execute that procedure, for us to know how to handle it and for the pilot to know what's going on is practically nill. So, while it sounds fun to do it, I'm sure, the reality is that it would be a gong show, so we don't do it :)
