ForeFlight Web Beta

Post by asad112 »

Just got my invite. Is anyone else on yet?

Early impressions seem OK. Looks like there is no integration yet for pulling up charts or the AFD. Flight planning appears to be completely textual based at this point as well. As far as maps are concerned, it looks like they have added VFR (TACs & sectionals). There does not appear to be an option to isolate specific maps or view legends.

Seems as if ForeFlight is just simply trying to provide a way to plan a basic flight on your browser and then import it back onto the app. Though this feature alone would be very convenient, still would be nice to see the charts and AFDs and be able to click to select way points. I will only hope that will be added soon. Although I am trying to like the new Skyvector, it is just not happening for me.

What do you all think?

Just applied for the beta about 20 mins ago, will post here when I get a look. Based on how quickly these guys add features, I wouldn't be too concerned about what I see in the beta. Maybe I'm optimistic, but my guess is that it'll have the right feature set in the medium term if it doesn't have it right out of the gate.

I applied way back and have not heard anything. Sounds like it is not what I was expecting so guess it is okay. LOL

I got my invite last week and have taken a quick look. Very basic right now so I haven't really tried to do much with it. Like Keith, I'm confident they'll make it a great tool very soon. As a beta user, I will exercise it and provide feedback. Never really been a Skyvector user. When I needed a PC program I usually have used the AOPA flight planner.

I applied shortly after word was released that it was going public. I talked to the guys at Oshkosh and they said they were releasing about 50 at a time. He said to be patient as there were several people asking for beta access.
