Cannot establish connection to ATC

X-Plane 10.36, Windows 7, Newest X-Plane Plugin (as of July).
When I connect to PE and tune in frequencies, I can hear a lot of transmissions. However, trying to transmit and requesting a radio check always failed, I did not get any response.
I used the following frequencies at KSDM: 124.4, 128.25, 125.15.
At the PE Website I could see that I (N26292) was connected with the frequency I tuned in at COM1.
I tried both an USB headset and the BOSE X which I use both for PE as well as in real flight.

This is my second attempt after several months of PE absence to fly online again, this time at a controlled field, but I always failed. I do not know what happened in the past months, however, at the moment, I there's no benefit on the one dollars I spent for a one year annual subscription.
