An A332 is /L as it has GPS/RNAV and is RVSM capable.

Most modern airliners are /L (replacing /Q about a year ago).

I've seen a lot file /Z as well

Frankly we don't really know what half the stuff means, neither do the pilots it seems (at least up here in the sticks!)

/Z is the same as /L without the GPS.

For airliners/aircraft with RVSM there are generally 3 codes that are used:

/L - GPS + RVSM
/Z - RNAV (but not GPS) + RVSM
/W Non-RNAV + RVSM

For non-airliners/aircraft without RVSM the codes become

/G - GPS
/I RNAV without GPS
/A Non-RNAV (with DME)
/U (Non-RNAV (without DME)

The rest of the codes (/B, M, N, P, X, and T) are ultra rare and generally non-existent in the flight sim community.

Perfect...thanks.

I guess my mistake was that I was thinking "No GPS" as there is no GPS as I am accustomed to.

I understand it now that in this case with the A320 there would be a GPS but that it is integral to the FMS which also includes RVSM as well.

/L it is then....

RVSM isn't a FMS thing, but otherwise you have it correct the GPS is a sensor which feeds to the FMS.
