Departure runway

Post by pilotphilip »

Hi folks,

When I'm sat on stand planning my departure, I like to brief the SID with my PNF, but we never know which runway we will be departing from until Ground give us taxi clearance.

With the absence of ATIS on PE, is there something I'm missing?

Many thanks

Phil (I-10 next, looks scary!)

This site has an ATIS system in place.

Sometimes you just have to use your best guess based on what the ATIS says, or brief the multiple options. Asking ground or clearance will work too, just understand that sometimes things change and you'll be assigned a different runway. I like to brief all possible options while at the gate before pushback, just to get it out of the way so I'm not having to re-brief while taxiing and starting another engine, etc.
