737-200 Level D sim for the public!

Holy cow, just learned about the Delta Airlines Museum in ATL, they have a 737-200 Level D sim which is accessible to the public.

It's $425 for a 45 minute flight, 10 min brief, 5 min debrief, so 1hr in and out.

I have a call into them to see if we could get PE in there (we actually can integrate with devices like that), largely so that you guys would be able to get the most out of flying it

Even without PE integration, though, this is a relatively rare opportunity to fly that thing as much as you want. I would try to get a bulk rate for several back to back sessions with several crews, that would be quite an experience.

Watched that video and was floored. Totally worth the $425 for the hour of fun, especially if you could get a crew to go with you. Flights to Atlanta wouldn't be too pricey from within the US>

Hmmmm, I think I know what I want for Christmas. Oh how I have resisted the airliner thing in sim...this gives an excuse to finally get serious learning the FlyJSim 732.

I've flown the FJS 732 so much now I could probably do cold and dark in the Level-D and be good. I'd pay for two hours as a gift to myself (yowch!) and run a couple of flights. Would love to know where their scenery is and how far/where you can go.

Steve, you could call them to find out what the scenery DB contains. I would expect terrible enroute scenery but decent airports (that's par for the course for Level D sims). If things work out, we'll try to have some packages for PE users to select from with longer blocks in the sim and preferred pricing. No idea if that will come to pass, though, it's early days.

When I was in the A.F. I used to fly the T-37 and T-38 sims; Full cockpit, full motion. I managed about 80 or so hours in each, (lol…I kept a log book of my time.) What amazed me was the immediacy of realism/immersion and how quickly my palms began to sweat. For both sims, the system was programmed to go out of trim every 30 seconds or so. And when one was IMC, the “clouds,” or visuals were adjusted so as to present a sort of static diagonal picture. Imagine an old, rabbit ears T.V that can’t pick up the signal, then slant the picture about 25 degrees. The idea was to force the student to properly trim the airplane and develop an instrument scan. Sinister, but effective.
I’d sure like to give this Delta sim a try.

Heard back from them. The vast majority of the clients who use the sim are people off the street with no flight experience, so PE doesn't make sense for them yet. Bummer. but still worth a visit!
