Looking at getting some heavy GoFlight Hardware

Post by Kevin_atc »

Hey X-Planers. It's me, your favorite controller :D .

When I'm not watching blips to bleep bleep around the radar screen, you may find me flying on PE from time to time. I'm at a point where I'm looking to get some heavy duty hardware for my sim setup and I've had my eye on some Go-Flight stuff.

Specifically, I'm looking to fly the JAR A320 in X-Plane 10 with the hardware that I've been looking at buying. However, I already have the GF-46 from Go-Flight (I've had that for years) and I haven't been able to get that to work with the JAR A320. It works fine with stock aircraft, but I know the JAR works a bit differently.

I am familiar (and I have tried) the following plugins:
1.Sandy Barbour's http://www.xpluginsdk.org/goflight.htm
2.Christopher Strosser Add-on Support GF-Xplane Plugin http://caffeinatedaviator.com/xgoflight ... @gmail.com
3. Steve Munn http://www.pollypotsoftware.org.uk/prod ... -tool.html

I'm not the most x-plane savvy guy, but I haven't been able to get those plugins to even make my GF-46 work let alone $1800 of hardware that I want to buy.

So I have several primary questions that I'm looking for advice on:
1. Does anyone fly the JAR A320 with Go-Flight Hardware successfully?
2. Does anyone have any advice on getting those plugins to work with the JAR A320?
3. Does anyone know of any other plugins that may help me out?

I know this isn't the best forum to ask this on, but I don't have permission to post on x-plane.org's hardware forum :(

Any help or suggestions are appreciated!

You might have more luck on the forums at jardesign.org. I know this plane uses almost all custom datarefs which murder compatibility with most hardware addons. I know Josh Gibbs has had issues getting Saitek hardware to work (I don't think he ever did).

Thanks for the advice. I did post over there, but it looks like I might be shit out of luck. I've tried posting on the .org too, but I don't have permission to post there apparently :(

FWIW there are other planes that work just fine with the Saitek hardware. I believe it's mostly just the JAR planes that have problems.

I'm starting to look into those other options, thanks! I do really want to stick with GoFlight if I can, though. I have the Saitek yoke and pedals, but I like the quality of GoFlight as well as the airliner feel to it. Do you know of any good jet aircraft that would work with GoFlight on x-plane?

I only mention Saitek because I think you'll run into similar problems with GoFlight as Saitek users do. Unfortunately I don't know which, if any planes, actually work no do I know anyone that has their hardware.

I just ordered my GoFlight modules. I'll get a chance to test my library and I'll let you know.
