I haven't flown in the real world in many years and I don't have an IFR rating. I'm trying to go through the PilotEdge IFR tests little by little but most of it is new for me. I understand your trepidation and "in over my head" feelings but honestly when you do your homework even the most mysterious of tasks becomes logical and straightforward.

1) It might benefit you to pick a "home base" that you can become very familiar with, and little by little venture out farther from there. In the real world I did most of my training at Santa Monica so that's the airport I do most of my flying from in PilotEdge. This is a good choice because if you want to venture into the hornet's nest of Class B you can go south, and if you want to have a leisurely flight you can go north.

2) Download the PilotEdge receiver and listen while you're offline. In the real world I had an air-band radio that I would listen to all the time (this was in the days before liveatc.net) and this, more than anything, helped me get comfortable with ATC.

3) There are a ton of PilotEdge videos on YouTube. The best (in my opinion) are the ones done by Mark Hargrove. He hasn't done that many (I really wish he'd do more) but what he has produced are amazing and definitely must-watch. https://www.youtube.com/user/markhargrove/videos

4) I try to balance fun with learning, so not every flight is about trying something new. Someone said if everyone knew what they were doing the network would be pointless, but I disagree. In 35 years of flight simming, PilotEdge is the "add on" that brings more realism to simulated flight than any piece of hardware or software I've ever tried. Even when I'm confident I know what I'm doing when planning a flight from point A to point B, PilotEdge makes that flight more real and more enjoyable.

I am a controller here. I recognize your call sign, but I don't remember you. That means you're doing just fine.
