Post by hunijjang »

Hello All :)

I have to the question by drones flying.

1. The PE Drones keeping fly with 7/24? and works to same schedules?

2. They are really not affected by winds? or other weather conditions?
If then yes, If I join for the local pattern work so I can needs to expecting of the opposite pattern direction by Drones flying?
because If above the corrected, that is really shocking. :o

3. It is working on step by the starts to ramp - taxi - takeoff - crusing - landing - taxi - ramp?

Thanks

Hello,

1. Yes.

2. They're recordings, so that's correct. They use the runways that are most often in use, so what they're doing generally makes sense and I try to fit into the flow. If not, I usually ignore them in the pattern, but that's up to you. Where the drones really add to the experience is during the en route phase, where you'll get traffic point outs even if you happen to be the only pilot flying.

3. As far as I know, they all make complete startup to shutdown flights, although some remain in the pattern. Hopefully I understood the question.

Ryan has it all correct however I want to make 1 clarification to question 1.
1. The PE Drones keeping fly with 7/24? and works to same schedules?
Yes with the caveat that the drones aren't on a fixed time cycle. This means that while the drones repeat at a certain interval they won't be at the same place at the same time on a given day. The drones don't start at a given clock time but at a given time after the last drone launched.

I often see three aircraft flying in a loose formation at high speed, especially around the KPSP area. Are those PE drones? I have all GA and Commercial traffic turned to zero in P3D so I assume those are. On a flight back to KCRQ over the weekend I saw something that appeared to be going vertical. I first noticed it at about 6K and it zoomed up well past my altitude of 9K and then disappeared. Whatever it was it was hauling butt and appeared to be going straight up. LOL

Yes, those are formation flights of B-1's and F/A-18's in and out of KNKX. They departing from NKX, head east towards JLI, drop onto a low level Military Training Route for a few hundred miles, then exit the route just SW of PMD, then climb up and return VFR to NKX.

Excellent. I thought the bigger planes looked like B-1s.

One of the Hornet formations heads NW to Pt Mugu NAS. They departure west, stay low and then transition to a vertical climb at the end of the runway up to 16.5k. They're fun to watch if you're transitioning the area. Just remain clear of the NKX Bravo and you'll be ok :)
