Shout-out to the controller last night

Post by Turner »

Flew last night, and the woman controlling (at least at Santa Ana and what sounded like about 50 other airports) was doing a mind boggling amount of stuff.

Someone noted that it sounded really busy and her reply cracked me up - something like "it's not really busy, it's just that everybody is calling in at the same time"....

Honestly - is there some article or thread somewhere that explains how the Pilotedge ATC system works and (besides the obligatory notepad) how everyone keeps track of everything?

Amazing, and kudos to the woman controlling yesterday.

cheers

I'm sure she appreciates it, there was another thread on the same topic posted a day or two ago :)

If you'd like to see how the system works, search youtube for "pilotedge scope" or watch one of the past twitch broadcasts for one of our controllers (see the twitch directory).

I'm always amazed not only by the accomplishment of doing all the "normal" ATC work when it get's busy, but also simultaneously taking the time to give advice, corrections and constructive criticism to the lesser experienced folks (like myself).

I'm always amazed at the skills these controllers possess. Flat out amazed.

Andrew, understand that there are certain pieces of technology and other IP that are proprietary, so while we can show some of it, there are details of the tech that we don't go into. However, you'll get a pretty good gist from the streams or YT vids :)

I just want to pass a quick "thank you" to the departure/center/approach controller who helped me out when I started to mess up the RIIVR2 arrival during my I-09 in the 737-200 today!
As things got a bit out of control during the arrival, I got vectored back to GRAMM to give it a second try. But I got a bit nervous in the process and screwed things up again (made the turn to re-join the arrival in the wrong direction, got off track on the ILS-approach because I needed to reconfigure my radios etc.).

Glad that I did get a "pass" in the end, but I wouldn't have been suprised if I had gotten a "fail".

Great service and a great experience as always!
