Last Night

Post by manlyman »

First, I want to say how much I have enjoyed my short time on PE. I have started to watch the training videos and putting them into action. I've flown about 10 times so far. Last night was my first time to fly out of a class C space, Santa Barbara, and my first time to mess up. I was given instructions to fly runway heading 15L at or below 1500', flying VFR. Well I figured seeing how I was way clear of the airport I could start my turn to San luis, after starting the turn I was told to switch to departure which I did. I was asked to ident then asked to give my position which then lead to the question," was I given instruction for my departure"? Oh man, at that instance I realized what I had done! The controller was very gracious in his instructing me what I should have done and what to do next time. Then on top of all that, all of a sudden I started to have radio problems. Things got bad really quick!!. Ended up terminated the flight due to radios went wacy on me.
Had a great time going thru all that and leaned a bunch. I'm just a sim pilot but PE has taken it to a hole new and exciting level. I look forward to getting home in the evenings so I can fly! Not that I don't like getting home, PE has added so much more to simming. Well worth my $20.

Thank,
David

It was my pleasure to handle your flight last night and welcome to the network. As you said, we try to point out mistakes so you can learn from them and get better. You have the right attitude and I hope you'll continue to enjoy your time here. Sorry to hear the radio wasn't working well, though, hopefully that'll get resolved. I couldn't tell if it was a PTT issue or a bandwidth issue but my guess is PTT.
