Helicopter VFR transponder codes

Post by helicopterjoe »

The FAA recently put out a letter to airman describing the use of discrete transponder codes for VFR helicopters operating in the Los Angeles area. Will PE be observing these new guidelines? or should VFR helicopters keep using 1200 when flying in PE? Here's a link to the new LTA.

In looking through this it just looks like a set of additional VFR Codes that are going to be used for certain helicopter operations not in contact with ATC.

Based on that we have no issues with you using these codes.
