Thanks for this. I understand that PE was not meant to be a place for complete newbies and I am doing my best to research and prepare but sometimes I need affirmations from the wise men of the village

Doing the workshops and pilot ratings is about the best thing that you can do. Post here when something just doesn't click.
New VFR ratings are under construction. Keep an eye out for those if I remember correctly- they will be called the CAT ratings.
