Yea! Passed My I-09, But Lost Count Of Tries

I actually practiced for this I-09 for 2 weeks, but unfortunately, I was practicing it wrong.
Had the controller not corrected me, I would still be there trying to pass it.
These ratings are becoming an obsession , but I've come to the conclusion that I learn more by failing them, than by passing the first time.
The controllers are wonderful, they all are, but one of them actually took me a side and explained what I was doing wrong. I could not have ever passed had he not done this. What he explained clears up a lot of confusion about SIDs and STARs that I've had and I really appreciate it. I didn't get a chance to thank him because when we were finishing, the Pilotedge client froze up.
The next time that I tried the rating, I passed (Glory, be!) and then from somewhere, I could hear the Rocky Balboa theme song. I really liked that because Rocky is one of my favorite movie characters and I have all of his movies.
Thank you again, to all of the great controllers and all of Pilotedge. I've never learned so much about aviation and all while having so much fun.

CONGRATS! The I-10!.... the I-10 is, in my opinion, the hardest one of them all. Afterwards, I-11 will be easy!

Not to scare you though.... go get it done... just understand flying full approaches with procedure turns, MDA, circling maneuver and holding procedures.

Refreshing with the workshops concerning those topics would be beneficial.

Thank you Kyle. I've been spending the weekend practicing for the I-10, reading the material that is posted for it and watching all the videos on it that I can find.
There are a lot of new calls and requests that have to be made too, so I want to know the mechanics of the two approaches well enough that the distraction of having to communicate will not put me sideways.
I've practiced the circling approach at KSBP in both directions for Rwy 11 and 29.
I'll have to practice the back course and hold some more this week before I try to take the test.
I see some people that like to practice for the ratings online, but I like to do all my practicing offline, then when I get online, just go for the gold.
Like I say, sometimes I can learn more by screwing it up a couple of times online, than by passing the first time. Either way, it's a lot of fun.

I agree... if you fail... then fine... start right over. There isn't a limit of times you are allowed to try.... and you might just learn something.
