[1915P, Mon Dec 12, 2011]: Death dives - Decatur Shores 2!
Re: [1915P, Mon Dec 12, 2011]: Death dives - Decatur Shores
Is necessary for FSX users to download the scenery or just X Plane?

I haven't used MSFS products for active flying in years, so I really wouldn't be able to tell you. Have a look at your scenery and determine whether you need to change anything or not.MXMiles wrote:Is necessary for FSX users to download the scenery or just X Plane?

For what purpose would I need to make changes? Just to make sure there is enough parking spots?

More or less, but more importantly, so you have something more than just a runway and a field(ie Ramp area of some kind), in case that's all that your scenery contains.

Assuming there aren't many parking spots at that airport in FSX, I would simply start at the default position, taxi over to a random spot on the ramp, then connect to PE.

My yoke is still inop but I may park at Decatur Shores ramp to watch the fun arrivals.

I'll be using the scenery package that is part of the KNUW - Whidbey Island scenery from the org at the link below:
http://forums.x-plane.org/index.php?app ... file=10138
This scenery includes several airports in the San Juan Islands area. I started to remove the labels that you see in the water and the airstrips, but I haven't finished that work yet. When I get it cleaned up, I'll post a link to it for those who are interested. For tonight, you'll just have to use the scenery as is.

I just had a peek at your scenery Steve. I can't tell, but unless it's using an offset runway data, then it might become an issue if only some people use it. I know for a fact that the default runway is a bit 'off'. To some, this would make it appear that some people are landing diagonally across and off the runway, rather than on it.
I'd suggest we just stick with the default one for this run.
