Sweet V35 Ride!

Post by Steven Winslow »

Carenado just released their Bonanza V35 for X-Plane and of course I'm addicted to Carenado's planes so I bought it straight away. I had to take her up for a spin before I decide on a paint job and tail number. Did a short IFR hop from SBP to SBA and had a delightful flight. They've done a great job with this bird and I think I'll be flying her a lot on PE. I'll post some screenies as soon as I get her painted up in my personal paint.

The awesome, Steve. I love that you took it for a test flight on PE rather than offline. Good stuff.

Wouldn't be a true test flight if it wasn't on PE, now would it? :P

Very nice. I have been customizing the FSX version of this aircraft by adding the RealityXP GNS430W and their Flight Line T gauges (replacing the Carenado six pack with the RXP six pack). I do still need to paint the aircraft to match the colors of the real V35 I fly, but that is not a priority at the moment. I also plan on using this aircraft for a lot of PE flights now that I have the cockpit updated.

Does X-Plane offer a more accurate representation of the GNS430W GPS in the delivered instruments or do you also have to purchase the RealityXP add-on? The FSX version of the GNS430 is terrible.

Peter

Peter,

The GNS430 in Carenado's X-Plane version is the stock X-Plane model. It is not terrible, but it isn't a true representation of the real thing. I use it as it is and it serves my purposes. If I had one that had all the features of the real world Garmin I'd be using all the features I could. I fly on a Mac so the RealityXP version is not an option. I may try running X-Plane running Windows 7 on my Mac, but that just doesn't seem appealing.

If you want help painting your V35, let me know. I'm about half done with mine. Just need to set aside some time to finish it off.

Peter, you don't want anything to do with the stock 430 that comes with X-Plane if you're looking for an IFR approved GPS. The stock GPS can't load flight plans, can't load SIDs/STARs or IAPs.

The reality xp gns was one of my best investments, storing and inverting flightplan is such a handy tool.

Andrzej,

The Saitek radio panels work flawlessly with all the Carenado's. If you find a paint job and tail number you want for your V35 I'd be happy to paint her up for you.

Keith, you CAN load flight plans into the X-Plane stock 430 if you map a key or button to "load flight plan" in the buttons assignments and you've created an FMS flight plan with Goodway or the like. But, as you stated, you can't load STAR's, SID's or IAP's unless you create and record them manually in Goodway. The CAX FMS programmer also works to input flight plans into the 430. Nonetheless, it is definitely lacking in functionality. The Reality XP Garmin is the only thing that has made me (shudder) think about flying on a PC.

Steve, thank you very much.

I will take your offer for painting but I know it is time consuming, aren't you too busy now with your business?

I will try my hand in it also but thank you for the offer, I have to think, how I can paint it now.

Can you send me yours to look or post here?

Thank you, cheers, Andrzej
