Thanks for the LAX - OAK event

Post by Ryan B »

I messed around just North of OAK shooting approaches at KAPC for most of the nite, then went back to HWD vfr. Then grabbed my BBJ headed opposite of the flow to LAX (tailwinds hehe).

Two screenies! (Don't judge my really high final hand flown visual lol!)

To all Pilots and controllers,
I had a great time last night, I went from KVNY to KSJC - VFR.
It was nice to hear other pilots in the area. One interesting call that I heard was that someone had lost both engines and was trying to reignite them. He was dropping quickly and the controller picked that up. After a few attempts at starting the engine the pilot realized that he was "unable". The controller then gave three options for alternate airports as the pilot was now gliding...The last thing I heard was from the controller saying that "I suggest the beach...".
I, too, had a small incident on landing. I was about 30ft off the tarmac coming in on 30L at KSJC and suffered a bird strike. I was still able to land safely, but it was an interesting end to a very fun flight.

Thanks to all again
