Thank you, Kevin.
I'm on a Mac running Mavericks, I should have mentioned that. Sorry.
Anyway, I can't find any sound preference where I can adjust mic level back into the headset. Nothing is muted, ATC can hear me, and I can hear everything, except my own voice. Maybe it's a shortcoming with the HyperX Cloud headset on a Mac.

Thanks a lot, Kevin. LineIn works nicely. There's a bit of latency, but that's the A/D and D/A conversion, and I can get used to that.

You can also listen to the recordings on the web site after the flight (they're updated every hour).

Thanks, Keith.
I just saw on pilotedge.net that PE is available 24/7, meaning that the network, radios and drones always are active. Are we to treat all airports as non-towered whenever ATC is offline?

Yes, just like real world when the tower isn't in operation 24/7. You'd use the CTAF which is generally the published tower freq. If there are multiple tower freqs (ie, SNA, LAX, LAS), only one of them will be listed as the CTAF.

Would it be possible to add a PE feature for training with controller?
Example:
PE publishes a scenario - say something like a V-3 - but has a dedicated controller that staffs the stations just for that scenario and provides a written feedback to the pilot? I'm thinking something that would be scheduled, limited to only a few users, and possibly have an extra fee. I'd pay something like $5 for a one time training review to make sure that I got solid written feedback about specific good/bad things to make sure I'm not carrying bad habits forward.

Steve,
We are looking at a remote instruction service for this.

I agree, Steve. That definitely sounds interesting. Thanks.
Now, question about when to disconnect from PE. Let's say I've completed some patterns at KSNA, and taxied back to parking. I then decide I'd like to fly from Oceano to San Luis, which seems like a natural progression from pattern work.
Is this a scenario where I should disconnect from PE before selecting a different airport in X-Plane?
Thanks.
