New Carenado V35B Livery

Took a quick little photo flight this morning VFR from Shelter Cove over to Garberville. If you have the X-Plane version of the new Carenado V35B and you'd like this livery, you will be able to download it at the org shortly.

How come you didn't stick with the real tail ID?

Well, here's the deal, I keep the real tail number version for myself. This version is for the masses, but I get to fly the one with the real world tail number.

I would like to toy with repaints myself. Any good tutorials/editing software I could educate myself with? Using FSX.

I don't know of any tutorials for FSX. There are some for X-Plane at www.x-plane.org. I'm sure there are plenty of tutorials out there for FSX if you google them.

As for software, I use Photoshop CS4 for now. I know I need to update. But I use it every day in my studio so I can justify the cost. You can use Graphic Converter or a free image editing program called Gimp. Any image editing software should work.

The real key is to get a blank(white) texture file you can paint on, otherwise you have to mess with desaturating the colors or trying to change them. A white texture makes things a whole lot easier.

Steve, I have just basic skills in image editing but I was wondering how you do it.
The original paint file is .png which has all layers combined.
How do you separate or create a layer that shows rivets, seems etc ( all stuff that in under the paint) so you can later have it over the main colors layer?

Is my N2067Q still on the bench?

Andrzej,

You start by using the blank white livery files, as I am sure you have done. Then, when you do the paint, you do it it on a new layer. In Photoshop, you create a new layer and change the mode to Multiply. This allows the layers underneath to show through. The color layers should be on top of the base texture layer.

Steve, thank you, I will experiment with that, I understand that new paint layer needs some transparency or everything under it ( layers ) will not show.
I use GIMP, excellent free graphic editor, it has all the features that PS has but it is free.

Take your time with N2067Q, no rush, I will add some details also when it is ready.

Love these two airports you just made , was flying VFR last night around Shelter Cove, had to change weather, real one was too rough and below minimums for VFR. Great job, I wish we had all ZOA and ZLA airport scenery ofr X-Plane... just dreaming.

I've got some more airports for both NorCal and SoCal on the drawing board right now. I'll be happy to share when they're done. I'm getting better at my WED skills. Still a lot to learn, but I'm getting there.
