Have any other pilots had issues with varying volume of the ATC communications?
I have had two different flights so far where one controller will come through loud and clear, while a separate controller will come through barely audible and quite difficult to hear. It doesn't appear to be an issue at my end given that there are controllers within the same flight who are 5 by 5.

Re: Varying volume of controllers' communications?
The voice technology that we use is self-adjusting. It normalizes the volume based on what it's heard over the past few seconds. Controllers who are fairly quiet, therefore, will often start out very quiet and will magically become a little louder after a few seconds, if the transmission is long enough.
There are only a couple of controllers on staff who have naturally quiet dispositions or mic setups. I'm generally aware of who they are and will work towards getting this resolved.

Now that you mention this I do recall hearing a quiet controller suddenly become louder. Your technology is indeed working.Keith Smith wrote:The voice technology that we use is self-adjusting. I was also wondering in the past what is causing it. Now, all clear.
