I was quite sure that a 2D aircraft can't impress me anymore.
Then I discovered this joy and changed my mind.

Resolution 2048 x 2048, tons of dedicated systems, impressive realism.
Just 64bit version. For xplane only.
Let me know...
cheers

PS: absolutely free
Cessna 172 wide panel. Xplane only
Re: Cessna 172 wide panel. Xplane only
Very nice... looks great on my 2560x1600 monitor! Runs/performs fine for me. Definitely a lot of attention to detail/realism.
I wish I could use it, but there are a few deal breakers for me:
* 2d panel (no 3d view). I need to freely look around while flying (trackir).
* Not compatible with saitek panels. I need to quickly tune radios while flying on PE.

Why would it not work with saitek? Does it have a custom radio system?
Re: Cessna 172 wide panel. Xplane only
Yes, it works with saitek panels.
When this project showed up on xplane.org, I wrote some posts for a couple of issues and the author associated the bugs to saitek panels.
As matter of fact it wasn't saitek related, and he finally fixed the bugs a couple of hours later.
Now I can confirm they work.
I just don't like too much the stock C172 flight model to which seems be inspired the project.
But I know here on Pilotedge there are a lot of pilots who can easily tuning the model.
I was impressed by details, sounds, shadows etc...
After all isn't so common on a freeware plane.

It is documented as a limitation on the download page. But since iomagico says it works, that particular objection of mine is no longer relevant.Keith Smith wrote:Why would it not work with saitek? Does it have a custom radio system?
Re: Cessna 172 wide panel. Xplane only
I'm getting iced up on a clear night near SNA... only through 3,500 and I plummet to the ground in a thundering crash.
Any ideas?
Nevermind I'm an idiot. I was flying at night like I sometimes do on XP... real wx metar said CLR. So I switched to day. Right in the middle of a cloud hehe. I had user-defined weather running like in duluth (where we get hard core icing and planes crash, well they usually don't thank goodness), anyway it wasn't CLR, it was crappy and cold. Hence, why I got into a spin and crashed.
