(FSX) Central Californa Scenery Windstock Issue

Post by Nick Warren »

I tried finding resolution in another forum without luck. Does anyone who uses Al Wheeler's fantastic Central California Scenery for FSX have this issue with their windstock? Or, does anyone know what may be causing this and how to resolve it?

Thanks in advance to anyone who can help.

G'day Nick

I don't use Al Wheelers Scenery, but I downloaded it just to check it out, and when I had a few minutes I installed it.

As you can see sitting on 15 left at KSBA as per you picture the windsock works fine, flapping in the wind quite nicely.

It's getting a bit late down here now but if you'd like, I go through my install procedure another day. you will most likely need
to uninstall the one you right now and start from scratch.

Cya!
Merv

Merv,

Thank you for your reply. It may just be a re-install issue. I installed per the readme, but may have something conflicting. I am at work all day, but will take a further poke at it later. I am wondering if perhaps I have something in the scenery/world or scenery/global that may be conflicting as I have tinkered with scenery in this area before. At least with your post, I know the problem isn't global to all users. Thank you for your time.

Well, looked around for conflicts and couldn't find any, re-installed with the same issue. I know something isn't jiving right in my setup, so it's just tracking it down. The designers e-mail address is no longer valid. Guess I'll just have to make do for now.

Nick,

First up can you disable any scenery addon's you have for that area, ie Landclass and/or Mesh.

Then go to AVSIM and re download the file/s you are using from Al Wheelers scenery, reinstall a check them out, don't use the ones you have on disk now.

If problem remains, please take note of the "Added" details for each file you download from AVSIM and let me
know so I can get them and work from the same set of files you have, I have my suspicions as to what it may be.

Bye !

Merv,

Okay, so re-downloaded from Avsim and re-installed from scratch precise to the readme. Here is the file info:

File Description:
This is a compilation of CCCFSX.ZIP released on 4/25/08 plus all the subsequent revisions (1 through 4). If you've already installed CCCFSX.ZIP and it's 4 revisions, you don't need this file. This scenery covers the California Central Coast from Paso Robles in the North to Santa Barbara in the South with about 22 points of interest.

Filename: cccfsxc.zip
License: Freeware
Added: 20th December 2008, 17:46:21
Downloads: 2086
Author: Al Wheeler
Size: 6207kb

I also deactivated all landclass (SceneryTech, Santa Barbara landclass fsx_ksba.zip by Charles Reid) and deactivated all of my UTX files (I know the scenery isn't 100% compatible with UTX). No resolution to the issue. There is a Monterey, CA scenery by Eric McCloud (monterey_peninsula_kmry_version_2.zip) in which he addresses this same issue, however trying to use his windsock scenery and associated texture files have no impact with Al Wheeler's scenery. In any event, thank you for the time you are spending on this. If you have any further suggestions, I am more than open.

G'day Nick,

If you have installed as per readme file, try this out.

[1] Download this zip file ... KSBA.zip

[2] Un-zip the contents into ..\Addon Scenery\CCCFSX\Scenery\WindsockJDB.bgl --- (Overwrite existing)

[3] Un-zip the contents into ..\Addon Scenery\CCCFSX\Texture\windsock.dds ---- (Remove windsock.bmp)

[4] Un-zip the contents into ..\Addon Scenery\CCCFSX\Texture\windsock_LM.bmp --- (Overwrite existing)

No dice Merv :( Again, thank you for all the effort you put in to helping me. It isn't a deal breaker for the scenery, but I'd love to figure out why it is acting up. Thank you again for trying.
