sporadic communications

Post by ncsterno »

I was logged in several hours ago attempting a flight out of KBFL and could not raise any controller. I had ATIS, but couldn't raise ground control.
After 30-45 min I tried again and was able to est. communications. Another user, who logged in about the same time commented that he was unable to establish communications about the same time I was having issues.
As I was flying the pattern at KBFL, I lost contact on my 3rd downwind leg when I tried to call in with midfield. I landed, and as I was taxiing to the ramp, KBFL tower came alive again. I told him I had called midfield but he didn't hear me and I didn't hear him as he was calling me.
This was about a 3-5 min period of time.

Was this my system, or the PE server?
How should I have handled this situation mid-flight?

Sounds like the controller might have been having a comm issue. The controller last night was on a brand new computer if memory serves. I'll look into it. You should treat it like a lost comms scenario. Squawk 7600 and proceed visually through the pattern.

To minimize the chance that it's an issue with your system, I would get on the ground, disconnect and reconnect, then try again. If you can't raise the controller at that point, then email ops@pilotedge.net as listed on the Contact page.
